Voice & audio

Open-mic voice, mute & audio

RidePack keeps your mic live on an open channel for the whole ride — the moment you speak, your group hears you. No button, no activation threshold.

How open-mic voice works

RidePack keeps your mic live for the entire ride on an open channel. The moment you speak, your group hears you — there's no push-to-talk button and no activation delay. The mic is always on during a ride, so conversation flows just like riding side by side.

Mute and unmute

When you need to step off the channel — a phone call, a roadside stop, or just quiet — use Mute:

  1. Tap Mute to drop off the channel

On the active ride screen, tap Mute. Your group hears nothing from you until you unmute.

  2. Tap again to rejoin instantly

Tap Mute again to come back on the channel — there's no rejoining delay.

Your mute state is also visible on your Apple Watch, and you can toggle it from your wrist without touching your phone. See Use the Apple Watch companion.

Music ducking

RidePack uses iOS audio session routing to automatically lower the volume of any music playing on your device when a group member broadcasts. The moment the broadcast ends, your music returns to its original volume. This works with Apple Music, Spotify, and any app that uses iOS audio sessions.

Bluetooth headphones & AirPods

RidePack supports AirPods and any Bluetooth headphones or earbuds. The app preserves stereo audio quality, so your music sounds the same while incoming voice plays clearly through your headphones.

Privacy note Voice is transmitted live and never recorded or stored. See Privacy, account & feedback.
